The City of Miami G.A.R. Cemetery is pleased to host the annual Memorial Day Ceremony for the public on Monday, May 30TH, at 10:30 a.m. by the G.A.R. monument and flagpole located within the cemetery at 2801 North Main, Miami, Oklahoma 74354. G.A.R. Cemetery staff are honored to welcome the local Veterans organizations with their continued participation. The local Marine Corp League will be hosting the colors in the entrance march, and Girl Scout Troop #17388 will be performing the Flag Ceremony. American Legion Post #147 will lead the Pledge of Allegiance, perform the Fire Volleys, and play Taps. Robert Alexander, Marine Corp League will be leading the opening and closing prayers.

“The G.A.R. Cemetery staff are dedicated to honoring our veterans. On Saturday May 28th beginning at 9:00 a.m. the local Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts B.A.C.A. and other volunteers will be here to place stick flags on veteran’s graves that are clearly identified on their stones. The public is welcome to join us for this event.

In the case that we miss some veteran’s graves, we will have stick flags available in front of the office for you to place personally. This is something that we offer year-round for the families.” stated Nancy Bro, G.A.R. Cemetery Office Mgr.

The G.A.R Cemetery staff is committed to helping everyone with their cemetery needs and will work as quickly as possible to serve all visitors that visit the office. Here you will have access the cemetery map as well. For easy accessibility while visiting our grounds we will have signs placed throughout the cemetery with this QR code to assist you with your search.

As always, we welcome the public to join us for the ceremony and we encourage everyone to bring their lawn chairs. Brown-Winters Funeral Home will be serving hot dogs and chips Supplied by the City of Miami and G.A.R. Cemetery immediately following the ceremony.
